Video reviews now available on Google Maps

Two weeks ago, Google introduced “video” to Google Maps (Android only for now). The feature is available to users that are part of Google’s Local Guides Program, a program that allows users to review restaurants, shops, and different areas they visit. Using this feature, users will be able to shoot 10-second videos right through the Google Maps app or to upload 30-second videos from their phone’s storage.

In terms of reviews, uploading a video of places you visit can give a clear idea of that place’s atmosphere, more than an image could. This feature isn’t only available to reviewers, as store owners are now able to use it to highlight their own products/services as well.

To record/upload a video, users will have to search for and select the place in Google Maps, scroll to and tap on “add a photo”, tap on the “camera” icon, and then hold the shutter to record a video.
