Samsung announced Bixby right before its launch of the Galaxy S8, but the digital assistant didn’t become available to users until recently. From the reviews, I have mostly seen online and from what I have heard from friends, I must say that Bixby is the most misunderstood digital assistant out there.
One thing many users share (whether they use Bixby, or not) is their common hatred of Bixby’s dedicated home button. Third-party apps were developed to help remap the button to launch any other app, but Samsung disabled those apps with every new update.
At last, now Samsung has finally listened to their customers and is allowing users to disable the Bixby button. The latest update provides us with the option of toggling on and off whether Bixby home is launched when the button is pressed. The toggle is available at the top right-hand side of Bixby Home. This can also be done through the Bixby Settings menu.
Users who wish to use Bixby but still would like to disable the dedicated home button, well rest assured, Bixby isn’t going anywhere. Bixby home can still be accessed by swiping left from the home screen, and pressing and holding the button will still launch Bixby voice.
