Wait, what? Are you saying that your Instagram engagement suddenly decreased? Yeah, we completely get it. We’ve been there, it’s a common pain for many Instagram users.
We’ll break it down, in this blog post, we’ll go over 5 hacks that you can follow to ensure your engagement keeps on increasing. While reading the points down below, keep the following in mind; “no matter what, stay consistent”!
So, here’s how you can grow your Instagram engagement:
Post At Least Once Per Day
Content! Content is usually a problem for most of our clients. A common question we get is “What should we post Instagram?!”, which is usually followed by “How often should we post on Instagram?”.
After figuring out the components of your content calendar you should start to fill it out. Consistency is key to gain some awesome engagement! It is generally recommended to post at least once per day, and no more than 3 times per day.
Use Between 3 to 5 Specific Hashtags
Hashtags, hashtags, hashtags! Stop spamming your posts!
Most “social media experts” will tell you that you can use up to 30 hashtags per post and that you probably should use them all. Guess again. To be able to effectively reach the right target audience, Instagram recommends the use of 3 to 5 specific hashtags. On the other hand, research shows that posts with 9 hashtags receive the most engagement. Cool? Yeah, that’s pretty straight forward.
Now, you should also know that it’s best to avoid hashtags that shamelessly solicit likes and followers such as #followme, #like4like, #follow4follow, #tagsforlikes, etc. Using these will attract bots, spammers, and other users who no intention of engaging with you in any meaningful way.
Post Portrait Content
Forget about squared posts! Get the most real estate on a user’s smartphone screen by posting portrait content. Vertical content (4:5) proved to have the highest engagement rate among all formats on Instagram, making them a marketer’s favorite dimension.
Use IGTV Previews
Motivate your followers with IGTV previews, especially those users who are not yet willing to switch tabs to IGTV. It also allows users to engage with viewers using this teaser and then encourages them to watch the full video where they further engage with viewers. Previews are also a great way to inform followers of new content on a user’s new IGTV channel.
Tell people where you are! It’s as simple as this, geotagging makes it easier for people to find you and allows your content to show up in searches. Studies show that posts that contain a location tag receive higher engagement than posts without any.
What do you think of these tips? Yes, they sure are straightforward, and do seem obvious! But guess what?! Many users don’t follow them and eventually end up suffering from decreasing engagement!
