The question is why is database marketing so hard for companies in Lebanon? I had a rant recently on social media, on my personal account, on how most companies in Lebanon fail to take advantage of Email Marketing. My posts focused on how most companies fail to even send out an email to highlight their upcoming events/promotions, a problem that Samsungctc doesn’t seem to face. That is great, right? Well, not entirely… I have received a few emails since the release of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, marketing the new flagship and its features. The failure in their email marketing campaign happened last week when I received an email marketing the new Galaxy S8 accessories. Shouldn’t you go ahead and get me to buy the smartphone first before you try to sell me it’s accessories? Come on… your customer database is there for a reason. Identifying your customers, the products they have purchased, and possible upcoming interests, are key for a successful email marketing campaign.
If you enjoyed this post, then check out my previous post on Huawei’s failed video ad.
Huawei Lebanon has been strongly pushing the P10 and P10 plus smartphones since their release. Their social media campaigns focused on promoting both devices through the use of a certain Lebanese professional photographer.
It’s all been good until they released their latest promotional video. The ad is basically the same professional photographer, taking photos, speaking about a certain feature, and then showing the photos. Now that seems great, doesn’t it? Well, it would have been, if they were discussing the camera, sure… but the ad was about the phones supercharge feature. Come on Huawei… seriously?
The Galaxy Tab S3 was announced back in February, during MWC, and it’s been a while since Samsung updated their Tab S line. The Tab S3 took its time to make its way to Lebanon, but it’s finally available. I bought the tablet immediately upon arrival about 3 weeks back, but due to many circumstances, it has taken me all this time till I was able to publish this unboxing.Continue reading “Unboxing the Galaxy Tab S3”
A friend recently contacted me with an issue he was facing at work. He needed help coming up with an idea that might help special needs children have fun and perhaps learn at the same time. Some people, myself included, recommended the use of Virtual Reality. Some might wonder about the benefits of using VR to entertain and teach special needs children. Well it’s quite simple, VR is already being used in Healthcare, clinical therapies, and anxiety disorder treatments. Nevertheless, each case is different, and we should be careful when using VR with children (I’ll leave that to specialized personnel/therapists). But when considering virtual reality and all the options out there, one is left pondering and confused in front of all the possibilities out there. The article is not only meant for my friend, but for anyone looking to try out Virtual Reality. The question to ask is a simple one with many possible answers. Which VR headset should you buy?
Let me start by saying that I’m absolutely in love with this little thing. I ordered the Yi 2 4K action camera a while back through AliExpress, and at last just received it. The Yi 2 is a second generation action camera by Xiaomi, that was released in 2016.Continue reading “Xiaomi Yi 2 4k Camera”
(The MENA Tech).

Dubai security forces announced during GISEC (Gulf Information Security Expo), that ended just 2 days ago, UAE’s first police robot. According to an article published by Gulf News, not more than 2 weeks ago, robots will eventually make up 25 percent of the police force by 2030.
Just to be clear, the robot has an AI that helps it operate, and is not controlled from a distance. The new police robot is 170 cm tall and weighs about 100 kg (The MENA tech).
Suddenly I find myself remembering Will Smith’s film “I, Robot”…
The robot will be connected to a database that should provide the police officer with all information needed about any individual. The robot is also said to be capable of studying buildings and identifying points of entry/exits.
This is an interesting addition to Dubai’s security forces, should be really fun to see this robot in action.
Last week, during the first day of Google IO 2017, the company announced Android’s newest version “Android O”. The actual name of the new update won’t be announced until the actual release. The update will of course first hit Google’s own Pixel and Nexus (still supported ones only) devices.
During the first day of Google IO, Google announced that it’s launching the Google Assistant on iOS.
The assistant is available on iOS (USA only for now) as an application that will be able to perform certain tasks, as it does on Android, but with some exceptions to certain OS functions. That means you will be able to make calls, send messages, and play songs, but not set any alarms.
Users have to open the Google Assistant app to activate it, as the home button can not be remapped. Users can also add a widget to make the launching of the Google Assistant faster and easier.
